Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita generates PhP 5.5 B sales - DA Chief

MANILA, July 22 (PIA) --  Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary William Dar today bared that e-Kadiwa ni Ani At Kita, the biggest e-commerce in the agricultural sector providing nutritious farm products at a cheaper cost has generated Php5.5 billion sales.   Speaking at the Tatak ng Pagbabago: Pre-SONA Forum today, the Agriculture Chief said that this sales is a result of partnering with agri-business sector as  well as from the farmers’ produce being traded strategically around the country.  Through the use of Internet via mobile phone or a computer, Metro Manila consumers may visit the trading posts of  E-Kadiwa such as Bangbang in  Nueva Vizcaya, Sariaya in  Quezon Province and  in Batangas to buy farm and fishery products directly.    Share of the PhP5.5 Billion sales amounting to PhP2.5 billion came from the local government units coordinating with DA for the  purchase of  big volume of food packs  for distribution  to the COVID-19 affected farmers and  fishers and their families during the pandemic.   “Marami tayong ginawa  at ginagawa pa during this pandemic,” Dar said as he mentioned some of the efforts done for the welfare of the  small farmers and fishers in the country.   “Without  the  full support  of the IATF in terms  of all the unhampered movement of cargoes, particulary food supplies and medicines including logistical support, so ang laking tulong po nitong whole nation approach under the IATF, under the leadership of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte,” he explained.  He also mentioned the program  on Expanded Survival and Recovery Assistance Program for Rice Farmers (SURE Aid)  that helps the marginalized farmers and fishers recover from  the  impact of the low palay prices.   In partnership with Land Bank, qualified farmers may borrow  as high as Php25,000.00 with zero interest, payable in  ten years with no collateral.   “Sinisiguro po natin na mayron tayong sapat na pagkain dito during the  [pandemic] and we would like to believe that we can survive and reboot again the Philippine agriculture with the help of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte,” Dar assured.  “Let us be resilient and turn challenges into opportunities to survive and move forward towards a food safetier and more resilient Philippines with prosperous farmers and fishers,” he concluded.
